Players roam around a detailed world with terrifying enemies and must use brains and brawn to get out of situations alive, while unraveling more of the story. This biological agent is turning these once peaceful people into blood-thirsty savages and it is up to Chris to eliminate all those infected. In RESIDENT EVIL 5, players take on the role of Chris Redfield, a hero charged with tracing the virus to a fictional poor nation of Kijuju, in Africa, where the majority of the infected are people who live in these villages. After clicking "Create a New Profile" look for an underlined string of text that reads "create a local profile" (see video if you don't find it).As with past Resident Evil games - one of the most successful video game franchises in history and one that has spawned many popular Hollywood movies - the story involves a deadly virus that can infect humans and turn them into a kind of undead zombie out for blood. Create a GFWL accound when prompted if you want to do so when starting a new game.
In order to save games in this mode you need a local GFWL account. Make sure to check the "Run the Direct X 10 version" checkbox if you use it and click OK. When you launch the splitscreen application, there will be a prompt. You can make a shortcut by adding it as a Non-Steam game. To play the game in splitscreen, you need to run the splitscreen.exe file. Check the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox. Right click on splitscreen.exe and click Properties. Extract the files and copy them into the game folder. You can only use controllers (and no keyboard) when running this mod.
Download the fixed Launcher.exe file and save it in the game folder.
Click the "Browse local files." button to open up the game folder. In your Steam Game Library, find Resident Evil 5. Make sure Resident Evil 5 is installed and not running. I found most of this information browsing on the forums so I thought I'd gather it here for people with the same problem since it took me a while to figure it out.
